Why does it take so long to get my part?

Some parts have to be made and shipped from the manufacturer. This can increase the time it’ll take for the part to come in, but we promise that as soon as we have the part, we’ll get it straight to you.

How much longer will my system last?

How long a system lasts is very much related to how it is cared for. This can include maintenance contracts, cleanliness, and environmental factors. Typically, an AC unit will last 15-20 years. However, this can be lowered to 10-15 years due to Florida’s climate.

How often should I replace my filter?

If you have a one-inch filter, you should replace it every month or two months depending on the filter type and household conditions. Replacing a dirty or clogged filter can save your household up to 15% in energy consumption. If you have a five-inch filter, check the debris on it at six months and replace it if needed. After a year with a five-inch filter, you should replace it regardless.

Why is my energy bill so high?

There can be several factors that contribute to the price of your energy bill. These can range from increased usage to energy-inefficient appliances. However, if you see a sudden increase without warning, this could mean there’s a problem with your HVAC unit. A professional will be able to determine if this is the case and repair the issue to keep a strain from being on your energy bill.

When will my part be in?

We know it can be frustrating waiting on a part for a repair, but we are at the mercy of manufacturers and shipping expectancies. Shipping delays and shortages may mean it may take a few weeks for a part to come in. However, we will do everything in our power to get your HVAC the parts it needs as soon as possible.

‌How long will my unit last after this repair?

Unfortunately, there is no way to tell exactly how long this unit will last. It is a mechanical piece of equipment. Think about it like your car – a lot of moving parts. If it is maintained properly and minor issues are caught early during preventative maintenance, we can address the issue and keep your unit operational before a major issue arises. Changing your filter when needed and having a preventative maintenance plan will prolong the life of the unit.

How often should my AC unit be serviced?

We recommend that you have scheduled maintenance at least once a year. This allows for proactive treatment of any issues before they escalate into needing an AC replacement. Our maintenance plans at Comfort Temp start as low as $19 a month.

What temperature should my AC be set at?

This will vary depending on how hot and humid it is outside and whether or not you or others are home. When you’re away from home, increase the temperature slightly, and then lower it when you return to optimize your AC’s energy efficiency. Typically, you’ll want your AC to be set above 72 degrees with 78 being the recommended standard.

Should I repair or replace my HVAC systems?

The answer to this question will depend on a number of variables that only a professional inspection can determine. Typically, if your HVAC system is below the typical lifespan (usually about 10-15 years), you may be able to just schedule a repair and have a working unit again. However, depending on the damage to the system and age, you may be looking at a replacement. Luckily, the professionals at Comfort Temp can guide you through both and will let you know which is best for your home.
